Solitude

I slip into the waters of my mind, waves lapping at my ankles.

I look around and see nobody near.

I walk, until the water surrounds me on all sides.

I’m the only one here.

How peaceful, my solitude!

I reach the edge of the shelf and look into the depths;

It’s all silent and dark.

I drop off the side, and sink so very deep.

I have embarked.

How deep, my solitude!

I have just my thoughts to accompany me;

How I love them!

This time I’ve been given all to myself

Is a gem!

How wonderful, my solitude!
